Spring officially arrived about 10 days ago. There have been peeks of sunshine and some warmer breezes. We hear the birds chirping in the morning. The bicycles have been retrieved from storage. Plans for setting out the patio furniture have been discussed. A new glider for the porch has been purchased.
With all these signs of spring and the recent warm days, it’s easy to get the itch to plant. Since our daughter expressed an interest last fall about a garden she could help with, we have talked about it off and on for months.
It is fun to plan and dream of warmer weather, growing plants and the green haze that covers the land previously covered with snow.
With some rearranging on the farm, we have scoped out a spot that used to be pasture (think pre-fertilized) for our new plot.
Seeds have been purchased and the planting instructions read.
There will be some favorites planted like pumpkins and zucchini. We will try some new things like peppers. We will try again to raise some carrots, even though we have not been successful in the past. There will be some flowering plants as well like marigolds, zinnias and lavender.
The anticipation of new growth and new life is always exciting.
Like all things Spring, hope is renewed.
