The learning never ends. Whether it is life lessons, school studies or professional development, the learning never ends.
Recently, my husband and I took the opportunity to expand our farm knowledge base by participating in a farm conference. As usual, it was hosted in a great city with an upscale venue. It was just the two of us. The kids stayed with the grandparents. We had a chance to listen to some great motivational speakers. That is important these days. There were smaller group sessions about select topics in agriculture. I really enjoyed the focus group on women in agriculture. Most importantly, we had a chance to meet with other people in the industry. We had some casual conversations about operations, some more in-depth conversations about issues in the industry, and some personal conversations with producers like ourselves.
It is good for us to get out of our bubble and explore a little bit. We can get so wrapped up in local issues and our own corner of the world. It is enlightening and enriching to meet with others and learn new things. It makes us feel refreshed and motivated.
