I feel the need to make things. I want to cook and bake. I want to sew, crochet, and make other crafty items. I want to grow things. I want to can and preserve. I want to write about the farm and bring information to the public. So many of these things are about creating and producing.

I wonder if it is a human need for all or just some. I wonder if those of us in agriculture are just more in tune to the production side. Farmers are all about production whether it is crops, animals, vegetables, honey or dairy. Farmers produce what the world needs. When my husband left his off-farm job to pursue the farm full-time, I asked him in his first day what he was going to do. He told me he was going to feed the world. In the more than twenty years since then, I have never forgotten that moment. What an impactful statement. I would venture to say many people in agriculture feel the same way.

We are not only making a living, we are producing for the lives of others.
