An Unexpected Blessing

*This is not really a farm post, but it touched my heart this week.

I typically don’t go to the grocery on a Monday morning. I went back and forth about whether I was going or not. We were well stocked and only really wanted to pick up items to round out my week. Finally, I decided I had time to go and then I would have it out of the way and know I had what I needed for the week.

I was making my way through the non-busy aisles, making good time. Then I heard, “Excuse me?” I turned to see a lovely older lady down the aisle from me. She asked if I knew where a particular item was. I gave her some direction on where I believed it to be. She thanked me, saying she was new to town and had only been to this store once before. And that progressed into us chatting for about 15 minutes in the grocery aisle.

She was delightful. She was a vibrant 82 years old. We chatted like we knew each other. When we were ready to part ways, she thanked me for talking to her.

Later in the evening I relayed my story to my family about my new found acquaintance. My husband said I was in the right place at the right time and probably made her day.

I hope I made her day better because my day sure was.
